Founder and Artistic Director of the Gabrieli Consort and Players Paul McCreesh has established himself at the highest level in the period instrument field, performing in major concert halls and festivals across the world. His large and distinguished discography for Deutsche Grammophon has brought him international recognition. Paul has also been Artistic Director of the Brinkburn Festival since its founding in 1994.

He has conducted highly successful productions of Mozart, Gluck and Handel with Welsh National Opera, Komiche Oper Berlin and Royal Danish Opera, and that the Bergen and Beaune festivals. Forthcoming operatic engagements include two productions at Teatro RealMadrid.

The 2006/07 season opened with Paul's first festival's Artistic Director of one of Poland's leading festivals, Wratislawia Cantans; he has also guest conducted the AccademicaNazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Malmo Symphony Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra and Orcquestra Nacionales de Espana, among others.

Current projects with the Gabrielli C onsort and Players ecompass repertoire from Handel to 20th-century choral music, as the ensemble celebrates its 25th anniversary season.
