Jane Irwin studied at Lancaster University and at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her many prizes include the 1993 Singers' Competition at the Geneva International Music Competition and the 1991 Decca Kathleen Ferrier Prize. As a concert and recital singer she has appeared regularly in Europe and America. With the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) she has sung Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder (conducted by Walter Weller), and Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, Bernstein's Symphony No. I, Jeremiah, and Mahler's Symphony No. 2 (conducted by Sakari Oramo). She has appeared regularly at the Edinburgh International Festival, most recently Britten's Phaedra with the Scottish Ensemble. |
