Joanna MacGregor is recognized as one of the world's most wide ranging and innovative musicians, and has pursued a life connecting many genres of music that defy categorisation.

Appearing in over 60 countries, she has performed with many of the world's great orchestras (including the New York Philharmonic, London Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Netherlands Radio, Oslo Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony orchestra's), eminent conductors (including Boulez, Davis and Rattle), and has premiered several landmark compositions.

Joanna made her conducting debut in 2002 and regularly directs her own orchestral projects. She has had a very close artistic partnership as conductor and performer with the Britten Sinfonia for the past 10 years. The most recent project was the acclaimed 'Moondog/Art of Fugue' tour - a radical reworking of Bach's late great work, alongside the music of the famous 1950s New York street musician. in April 2007 she toured South America with the Britten Sinfonia.

Her album Play, on her own record label SoundCircus, received a Mercury Prize nomination. Current releases include the Moondog/Bach project with Britten Sinfonia, Sidewalk Dances.

Joanna is Artistic Director of the Bath International music Festival
