Tees Valley Youth Choir was established 15 years ago by its present conductor John Forsythe. It has won the Outstanding Performance Award at the National Festival of Music for Youth on two occasions, and was a runner-up in the BBC Choir of the Year competition in December 2006. The choir featured in the acclaimed BBC TV drama Nature Boy, was invited to perform in France on the 50th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and has made 12 European concert tours. This year it has already given 27 concerts; at one of these, in March, it shared the programme with Aled Jones. Two days after the Brinkburn performance, the choir travels to France to give concerts in the Loire Valley and Paris. |
