We're delighted to announce that pianist Joanna MacGregor and violinist Nicola Benedetti are both returning to Brinkburn in 2008.

On Friday 4th July, to open this year's festival, Joanna will be performing a special American jazz programme for 4th July, as well as Mussorgsky's stunning Pictures at an Exhibition.

Some of you may remember her playing this in 2001 when we were temporarily re-located to the Guest Hall in Alnwick Castle when Foot and Mouth Disease struck, but it has never been performed in the priory.

Nicola Benedetti, Brinkburn Music festival You gave Nicola an enthusiatic reception on her Brinkburn debut with Scottish Ensemble in 2005, so we are sure you will be equally pleased to see her return on Saturday 5th July for a solo recital with pianist Stephen Osborne.

We are gradually drawing the last threads together for the programme. Deciding who to invite and what they will play are only part of the equation - fitting in sufficient rehearsal time for everyone and dealing with logistical tasks - such as ensuring that the piano is both delivered and tuned at the right time - also require careful planning. As ever, artists' travel and accommodation is a major festival expenditure item, but all this hard work will pay off on 4th July when the music takes over...

We will keep you informed of progress through this news page.
